Breeder Agreement
Last updated October 14, 2026
What you agree to when you list puppies on getabreeder, on top of our Terms of Service. It covers verification, your commitments to families, how you get paid, and our fees.
The short version
- You’re the seller. Your puppies, listings and guarantees are your responsibility.
- List only puppies you bred and raised, send them home at 8 weeks or older, and follow the licensing laws where you breed.
- Payments go to your own Stripe account and are paid out once the puppy is home.
- The breeder fee is 6% per sale, with no fee on a cancelled sale. Founding breeders pay less for a time.
- Keep messages and payments for getabreeder families on getabreeder.
- You’re responsible for claims about your dogs, sales and visits, so we recommend liability insurance.
This summary helps you find your way. The full text below is what applies.
1. About this agreement
This agreement is between you, as a breeder listing on getabreeder, and Doxufy LLC, doing business as getabreeder. It adds to our Terms of Service, which also apply to you. If the two ever disagree about something to do with breeders, this agreement wins.
If you sign up for a business, kennel or program, you confirm you’re allowed to agree to this on its behalf, and “you” includes it. You list on getabreeder as an independent business, not as our employee, agent or partner. Disputes between you and us are resolved under the arbitration section of the Terms, including its opt-out.
2. Verification
A person on our team reviews your program before your first listing goes live, as described in How we verify breeders. You agree that:
- everything you send us is true, and the documents are yours to share;
- we may contact the registry, licensing office or vet you list to confirm what you told us;
- you’ll tell us when something we checked changes, such as a license lapsing or a move; and
- we decide who is approved and at what tier, and may ask you to verify again, or change or remove a tier, if we learn something new.
How we store and delete your documents is in our Privacy Policy. Your ID, street address and documents are never shown on your public page.
3. Your commitments
These are the commitments you signed when you asked to be verified, and they apply for as long as you list here:
- I only list puppies I bred and raised. I don’t resell puppies from other breeders.
- Puppies go home at 8 weeks old or older, with vet records.
- I follow the licensing and animal-welfare laws where I breed.
- I’ll keep messages and payments for getabreeder families on getabreeder.
You also agree to:
- hold every license and registration the law requires for how you breed and sell, including any state or local kennel license and a federal USDA license where one is required, for example for some breeders who sell puppies a family hasn’t seen in person;
- give each family the vet records for their puppy, and a health certificate from a licensed vet whenever the law requires one, such as when a puppy travels to another state;
- follow any state puppy purchase law (sometimes called a “puppy lemon law”) that applies to your sales; and
- keep your dogs in safe, clean and humane conditions.
4. Your listings and sales
- You’re the seller of every puppy you list. The puppy, its health, and any guarantee or contract you offer are your responsibility.
- Listings must be accurate and current: real photos of the puppy and its parents, the true price, and health results for the dogs shown.
- You pick one of getabreeder’s refund policies for each listing, and it’s shown to families before they pay. Once a deposit is paid, it can’t be changed for that sale.
- If you use your own sale contract or health guarantee, show it to the family before they pay. It can’t take away anything these terms or the law give the family, and it can’t stop a family from leaving an honest review.
- Mark a listing sold or take it down as soon as a puppy is no longer available.
5. Talking to families
Keep messages and payments for getabreeder families on getabreeder. Don’t ask a family to text, call, email or pay you another way before their puppy is paid for in full here. Contact details are removed from messages automatically, and trying to get around that, or around our fees, can lead to your listings being taken down.
Families should hear back quickly. If a family has waited 48 hours for a first reply we’ll remind you, and if 3 first replies take longer than 72 hours within 30 days, your listings may be paused until you’re caught up.
Use what a family tells you, including their contact details once you have them, only for their puppy and the sale. Don’t add them to a mailing list or share their details without their permission.
6. Getting paid through Stripe
Payment processing services for breeders on getabreeder are provided by Stripe and are subject to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Terms of Service (together, the “Stripe Services Agreement”). By agreeing to this agreement or continuing to sell on getabreeder, you agree to be bound by the Stripe Services Agreement, as Stripe may change it from time to time. As a condition of getabreeder enabling payment processing through Stripe, you agree to give us accurate and complete information about you and your business, and you allow us to share it, and information about your transactions, with Stripe.
Families pay into your own Stripe account. You agree that:
- your Stripe account is set to manual payouts, and we tell Stripe when to release each payment to your bank under the rules in the Terms: 3 days after the family confirms pickup, or 7 days after you mark the puppy as gone home if the family doesn’t respond, unless a problem has been reported;
- our fees are taken from each payment before it reaches your balance;
- we may refund a family from the payment in your Stripe account when you agree to a refund, when the listing’s refund policy requires it, or when we decide a dispute for the family; and
- if a family’s card company reverses a payment (a chargeback), you’ll help us respond. If it’s decided for the family, you’re responsible for the amount, and we may recover it from your Stripe balance or future payouts, unless the chargeback was our mistake.
7. Taxes
You’re responsible for the taxes on your sales and income, including any sales tax a state says you must collect, unless the law requires getabreeder to collect it. If a state requires us to collect sales tax on sales made through getabreeder, we’ll add it at checkout, show it to the family before they pay, and send it to the state. Stripe may send you, and the IRS, a Form 1099-K for the payments you receive.
8. Fees
The breeder fee is 6% of the puppy’s price, charged once per sale and taken from your payout in the same proportion as the deposit and the balance. There’s no fee on a sale that’s cancelled and refunded. Families pay their own service fee on top of the price, as set out in the Terms.
Founding breeders
The first 30 programs we approve are founding breeders. A founding breeder pays no breeder fee on sales started in the 12 months after their first approval. After that, the standard breeder fee applies, but it will never be more than 6% for a founding breeder who has a live listing or an open waitlist in the last 12 months. The family’s service fee still applies to founding breeders’ sales.
Changes
We’ll tell you at least 30 days before any change to the breeder fee. A change never applies to a sale that has already started.
9. Partner Plus
Partner Plus is an optional plan for approved breeders. It costs $49 a month, charged to your card through Stripe when you start and then every month after that. It renews automatically each month until you cancel.
- You can cancel online at any time from the Partner Plus page in your dashboard, in a few clicks.
- When you cancel, you won’t be charged again, and you keep Partner Plus until the end of the month you’ve paid for.
- We don’t refund part of a month, unless the law requires it.
- We’ll tell you at least 30 days before a price change, and you can cancel before it applies.
Partner Plus isn’t open to new members right now.
10. Your premises, visitors and insurance
Visits to your home or kennel, and meet-ups and pickups, are arranged by you, and you’re responsible for your property, your dogs and the conditions for visitors. You can set reasonable rules for visits, ask families to meet somewhere public, and decline a visit or a sale for any reason the law allows.
We strongly recommend you carry liability insurance that covers visitors and the dogs you sell. getabreeder’s own insurance, if any, doesn’t cover you.
Important: please read this section
11. Claims about your dogs and sales
To the extent the law allows, you’ll defend, indemnify and hold harmless Doxufy LLC, doing business as getabreeder and its owners, employees and agents from any claim, loss, fine or cost, including reasonable legal fees, that comes from: a dog you bred, listed or sold; your listings, guarantees or sale contracts; a visit, meeting or pickup you arranged; your taxes or licensing; or your breaking this agreement, the Terms or the law. This applies even if the claim also says getabreeder was negligent.
It doesn’t apply to the extent a claim was caused by our own fraud, gross negligence or willful misconduct. We’ll tell you promptly about any claim, and you can take part in how it’s handled. Nothing here lets us recover from you money a family is owed because of our own mistake in the payment process.
12. When we remove listings or accounts
Reselling puppies you didn’t breed is not allowed. If we find a resold puppy, or that a listing or document is false, we’ll remove the listing and the account loses its tier, and we’ll explain why in writing. We may also pause or close your account for anything else that breaks this agreement or the Terms, as the Terms explain.
You can stop listing at any time. Sales that have already started still finish: you’ll still hand over the puppy or refund the family under the listing’s refund policy, and payments still release under the rules above.
